A Lecturer at the University of Cape Coast, Dr. Micheal Serwornoo has challenged Journalists and Civil Society Organisations, (CSO’s) to focus more on illegal migration which has become a thriving business in the country.
He noted that there are some prominent people in the country who use their connections to illegally help people to travel outside the country.
Delivering a lecture at a workshop on migration for journalists in Accra, Dr. Serwornoo said the country cannot look on while its citizens keep dying in the desert and on the high seas.
He therefore called on stakeholders and the media to educate the public on the effects of illegal migration and further said there is the need for the Ghanaian authorities to take responsibility for tracing the root of this illegal act.
