Former chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Mrs. Charlotte Osei is leading an ECOWAS team of Election and IT experts to assist Liberia’s Elections Commission (NEC) to clean up its register in preparation for the country’s Senatorial, Constitutional Referendum and Bye Election in December.

According to a statement by the ECOWAS Commission, Mrs. Osei has already arrived in Monrovia to join the technical team that is on ground.

It said the deployment is in keeping with provisions of Article 14 of the Supplementary Protocol on Democracy and Good Governance as well as Article 53(c) of the ECOWAS Conflict Prevention Framework.

It said Mrs. Osei’s over 25 years experience in Law, Election Observation and Management and having held key Executive positions in both private and public offices will give her the ability to provide strategic advice to the NEC in areas of logistics, election planning, communications, dispute resolution and team building as it prepares for the forthcoming elections.

The statement said she will also work closely with the ECOWAS office of the Special Representative in Liberia and UNDP.
