Former NCA Board chairman and two others convicted for causing financial loss

An Accra High Court has convicted the former Board Chairman of the National Communications Authority, NCA, Eugene Baffoe Bonnie to six years imprisonment with hard labour , for the role he played in acquiring the Cyber Security equipment, worth more than four million dollars.

A former Director-General of the NCA -William Tevie, and Alhaji Osman Mimina, also former Deputy National Security Coordinator, were each slapped with five years imprisonment with hard labour .

A fifth accused person, who is a private business man, George Derrick Oppong was however acquitted and discharged.

The Court presided over by Justice Eric Kyei-Baffour , ordered for confiscation of their assets to the tune of three million dollars.

The three former members of the Board of the NCA, have been handed prison sentences of a total of 16 years for their roles in the purchase of a cyber security equipment that cost the State, more than four million dollars.
