The Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources has begun a four and a half year project to improve sanitation in the capital, Accra.

The project, the Greater Accra Sustainable Sanitation and Livelihoods Empowerment Project (GASSLIP), is being funded by the African Development Bank at a cost of 55 million dollars.

It involves providing sanitation services within the area and provides jobs for residents. It comes at a time Accra is engulfed by filth despite promises by government to make Accra the cleanest city on the continent.
