Fumigation Exercise in Upper East Region underway

The fumigation exercise of the Upper East Region has commenced under the strict supervision of the military, police, fire service and the Zoomlion, in response to the directives from the Local Government and Rural Development Minister Hajia Alima Mahammah as announced earlier.

Fire tenders from the Ghana National Fire Service the Municipal and District Ambulances and Zoomlion water tankers were all deployed in the exercise.

The fumigation covered the Abatoa, the new and the Ayiaah markets and the streets in Bolga Municipal, Kassena Nanakana Municipal and West District, Builsa North and South, Bawku West and Bawku Municipal, Tongo, Bongo, among others.

The exercise is the expected to cover about One hundred and five (105) markets.

The streets were empty as residents complied with the order.

Bolgatanga Abattoir

According to the Bolgatanga Municipal Public Relation officer, Felicia Fati Mijimah, normal business resumes Thursday, April 2, 2020.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Joseph Amiyuure Aturah, who was there, at the commencement of the exercise at around 5am in the morning, advised that the exercise should be carried out to the later with precision.
