Fuseina Salia: GBC Staff enskinned as ‘Shul Bore’

The Gonja Community in Accra has outdoored its Queen mother at an elaborate traditional ceremony in Accra.

Fuseina Salia a staff of GBC was enskinned in the presence of Royals and Subjects with a rich display of culture and tradition.

Fuseina Salia will henceforth be addressed under the stool name Shul Bore with the appellation Ggasaga.

The Lepowura from the Kpembe traditional area M.N.D Jawula who presided over the ceremony said Queen mothers play a critical role in the development of their people.

Gbasigah Hajia Fuseni was enskinned in the presence of royals and subject with a display of native culture.

She will now be known and addressed as Gbasibah Shul bore in the Gonja dialect. The Queen mother concept has only recently been embraced in the culture of the Gonjas.

As tradition demand, the newly enskinned in her smock paid homage to the authority of the Le powura from the Kpembe traditional area and other chiefs present.

Per Gonja tradition, the Queen is not allowed to speak to anyone until she undergoes a three day ritual that ushers her into her position as a Queen mother.

The Lepowura from the Kpembe traditional area M.N.D Jawula said society must appreciate and come to terms with the role of women in the developmental process. He urged women to build capacity and not underestimate their potential. He said the chiefs are committed to supporting Queen mothers because of the crucial role they play within the chieftaincy institution

He called on Ghanaians especially the youth to value and uphold the cultural norms and traditions.
