The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has addressed the recent military swoop at Ashaiman and its environs, following the murder of a young soldier (Trooper Imoro Taifa) in the early hours of Saturday, 4 March 2023 at Ashaiman-Taifa.

The GAF in a press release, disclosed that the swoop was not an attempt to avenge the Trooper, explaining that the objective of the operation was to fish out the perpetrators of the crime.

According to the Press Statement, the swoop was not targeted at innocent people although some innocent people suffered some distress due to the location they found themselves at the time.

A total of 184 suspects aged between 21 and 47 were arrested and handed over to the Military police and subsequently sent to the Ghana Police Service for further action.

The press statement further stated that the operation led to the confiscation of items suspected to be Indian Hemp, Amnesia and other forms of Narcotics.

The GAF is however urging the general public to provide useful information to support security agencies in fishing out criminals and miscreants from our communities.
