A Ghana Air Force helicopter, identified as a Z9 model, has been reported missing after it lost contact with aviation authorities on the morning of Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
The aircraft, which had departed for Obuasi, reportedly went off the radar shortly after takeoff. In a brief statement, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) acknowledged the situation and confirmed that search operations are currently underway to locate the helicopter and restore communication.
Preliminary information indicates that eight individuals were on board at the time, three crew members and five passengers. Authorities have yet to release the identities of those aboard.
The Ghana Armed Forces, in collaboration with other emergency and security agencies, are expected to issue updates as the situation unfolds.
