A spontaneous exercise to confiscate all analogue and non-digital slot gaming machines is currently underway across the country. Ewuurabena Paha reports that the Accra exercise was carried out at Lasso and its environs where the gaming is rife. At the time of the visit by the Officials of the Gaming Commission, children of school-going age were seen engaged in jackpot games. As though they were privy to the arrival of the team many of them took to their heels when they spotted the pick-up truck.

Head of Public Affairs at the Commission, Beatrice Baiden said they would get tougher on illegal game operators and activities in order to upgrade the industry to meet international standards and best practices.
Miss Baiden said “the Gaming Commission has engaged gaming operators on the directives and given them the opportunity to adopt conventional digital machines”.

Operators of the jackpot machines looked on and did not put up any form of resistance during the seizures. More than 50 machines were confiscated durung the four hour exercise.
