The Ghana National Tanker Drivers Association has widened its ongoing strike to include transport of all forms of petroleum products.
The strike which began yesterday, August 1, 2022, saw drivers who transport mainly LPG abandoning their trucks in protest against treatment by the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited and the National Petroleum Authority.
They have been unhappy with the continuous ban on LPG Stations under construction since 2017.
Some LPG marketing companies also shut down their stations in solidarity with their colleagues.
Following the government’s failure to address their concerns, the group says transportation of products such as Petrol, Diesel, aviation fuel, kerosene and petrol will be halted as well until their demands are met.
GBCNews reporter David Gadagloe visited some fuel stations in Tema and its environs to get a clear view of the strike.
Meanwhile, a member of the Ghana National Petroleum Tanker Drivers Group, Sunder Alabi says they are not going back to work until their demands are met.
In an interview with GBC News, Mr. Alabi said they suspect a foul play between the EPA and National Petroleum Authority, NPA, therefore they need both institutions to address their concerns before the issue gets out of hand.
