Members of the Ghana Transport, Petroleum and Chemical Workers Union and its allied groups have agreed with the Employment and Labour relations Ministry to find an amicable solution to the problems of gas tanker drivers in the Country.

The gas tanker drivers, have therefore called off their sit down strike and resumed work with immediate effect. The drivers on Monday, October 19 embarked on a sit down strike to press home their demand for a resolution of some issues affecting their work.

They, among others, complained about police harassment at checkpoints and NPA’s lack of adherence to a 2017 memorandum of understanding signed by stakeholders on condition of service for tanker drivers and their mates.

A statement jointly signed by the Deputy Minister for Employment and Labour Relations, Bright Wireko- Brobby, General Secretary of Ghana Transport, Petroleum and Chemical Workers Union, Fusein Iddrisu, and the National Vice Chairman of the Ghana Petroleum Tankers Union, Sunday Alabi, said after a meeting with the groups, the impasse has been determined.

It urged all stakeholders to stay calm until the matter is conclusively worked on in the shortest possible time.
