Gbane: Committee given three weeks to find out collapse of mine

A committee set up to investigate the cause of the mine collapse at Gbane in the Upper East region has three weeks to complete its investigations.

The regional Minister, Mr. Stephen Yakubu also recommends solutions to prevent future occurrences.

He asked that all mining activities be put on hold while the rescue operation continues to retrieve more bodies, trapped in the pit.

Speaking to GBC NEWS, an opinion leader at Gbane, Alhaji Fahad Bagmeritamme, said innovative measures will be employed to  avoid the numerous mining accidents in the area.

The Upper East Regional Chairman of the small-scale miners association, Mr. Robert Boazor, said the rescue team will continue to work until all the bodies are retrieved.

Nine bodies have been recovered so far as the rescue effort continues.
