The Ghana Journalists Association has listed five astute journalists from the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), as nominees for the 27th Ghana Journalists Association Awards, slated for Sunday, October 29, 2023, at the International Conference Centre.

Beatrice Senadju, Gifty Adjei, Kweku Bolton, Akua Oforiwa Darko, and Doreen Ampofo were among the 30 selected deserving nominees to receive awards in this year’s event themed “Leveraging media freedom to sustain the democratic and security architecture! The litmus test of election 2024”.

Speaking at a press conference, the Chairperson of the nine-member awards committee, Betty Apau-Oppong, explained that the GJA received 127 entries, including 15 from students and 16 from media houses, covering 34 categories.

She also added that the entries of the listed nominees passed the 7 yardsticks for selecting deserving nominees, including multiple sourcing, interviews, and captivating headlines.

She added that the quality of this year’s entries is a proof of improvement in the media landscape; however, she also spelt out limited entries for radio and entries for the wrong categories as some challenges for the committee.
