Director-General of State Interests and Governance Authority, SIGA, AMS, Edward Boateng speaking on the GTV Breakfast Show Thursday, April 7, 2022 made some comparisons between the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, GBC, and Private Media Houses.
He said GBC has a bigger mandate as compared to Private Media Houses, hence, their profitability cannot be the same.

“GBC is making losses or not making enough profit as private media houses but it is because GBC has a bigger mandate as compared to private media houses”.

Explaining further he said GBC’s responsibility to the Ghanaian viewer is much broader than Private Media Houses, so, its profitability can not be like that of Private Media Houses hence there will always be a difference. Mr. Boateng however advises that on the issue of privatization, GBC should be made more efficient to meet the demands of viewers and the growing competition rather than privatized.
