GBC-Twin-City Radio honors it retirees

Three retirees of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, the immediate past Western Regional Director of GBC Twin City radio, Phillip Baidoo, Mrs. Rosebeth Awusah Blay also known as Ekua Buaben and Mr. Matthew Minta have been honored by management and staff of the Corporation.

At a brief but memorable event held at the station, the three were presented with citations and gifts.

Addressing the gathering, the Western Regional Director of station, Alfred Hughes acknowledged that the three had in diverse ways served the Corporation in ways that have impacted on the lives of both staff and listeners of the Corporation.

He used the opportunity to advise staff and public officials to endeavor to give of their best irrespective of challenges in a bid to better the lot in society.

The outgoing Regional Director, Phillip Baidoo joined the Corporation in 1998, served in various capacities including radio and TV news reporter, radio news editor and for five years before his transfer to Sekondi, he was the Ashanti Regional Director.

Mrs Rosebeth Awusah Blay who was popularly referred to as Akua Buabeng on radio was employed in 1981 as a telephonist cum receptionist under the Corporate Affairs Division of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation.

By dent of hard work Aunty Akua became Akan news anchor and hosted various programmes including “Awareso” “Time with Fire Service” and was pivotal in Nkomo “Nketse-nketse”.

Mr. Matthew Mintah was employed by the Corporation as a messenger at Prestea on the 2nd of October, 1980.

During his four decade service to the national broadcaster, he severed on various administrative capacities and until his retirement he was the regional administrator.
