GBC’s Former Editor-in-Chief at Sunrise FM, Emmanuel Kwasi Safo dies at age 75

The death is announced of a former Editor-in-Chief of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation’s Sunrise FM in the Eastern Region, Emmanuel Kwasi Safo. His sad demise occurred at the Eastern Regional Hospital in Koforidua after a short illness. He was 75. Mr. Safo was employed as a reporter by GBC in 1976 after graduating from the Ghana Institute of Journalism. He performed duties including reporting, production and editorial functions at Radio Ghana’s Newsroom in Accra.

Notable among them was producing and hosting GBC’s Current Affairs programme, “Focus”, even after his retirement in 2007.  Mr. Safo was also a former Eastern Regional Secretary of the Ghana Journalists Association, GJA. He also worked as Head of Programmes at Radio One, a private station at Bunso. His one-week observation will be held Saturday, 19th February 2022 at his residence at Adweso SSNIT Flat, during which the date for his final funeral rite will be announced. Some of the GBC Sunrise FM Staff he trained when in active service, eulogized him as a hardworking and serious person.

The Late Emmanuel Kwasi Safo’s wife Doreen Issaka also shared fond memories of him, describing him as a loving husband.
