Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, says the bizarre murder of a 10-year-old boy at Kasoa by teenagers who are barely 16 and 17 years is a wakeup call to all Ghanaians, that as a country, children must be taught that there is dignity in hard work and with it comes the benefits thereof.

A statement signed by the sector minister, Adwoa Safo appealed to the media to take a tough stand against spiritualists and occultists who openly advertise on their platforms and entice young ones to engage in them. It said it is time to take the moral right and uphold the values of the nation and safeguard the future of kids and future generations.

The statement urged parents and guardians to be interested in the growth of their wards. It urged the Ghana Police Service to expedite investigations to unravel the probable motive behind the heinous crime and give the family of the victim, the justice they deserve.

The statement said the Juvenile Correctional Centers under the Department of Social Welfare will be willing and ready to absorb the culprits, who unfortunately happen to be teenagers once they are tried and convicted.

Meanwhile, Private Legal Practitioner, Wilberforce Mensah says a juvenile should not be put in remand for six months. He said after six months if the investigations are not concluded, the juvenile should be set free. He said it will be wrong for the alleged teenage murderers in the Kasoa case to be tried at different courts. According to Mr. Mensah, both have to be tried at a court that has a summary jurisdiction such as circuit or magistrate. He was speaking on Behind the News. He gave further explanation to the trial of the two teenage boys.
