A former German footballer of Ghanaian descent, Gerald Asamoah has organized a program where heart specialists and nurses are flown to Ghana to perform heart surgeries on underprivileged children. This initiative is part of the Gerald Asamoah Heart Foundation, which Gerald founded.

Every year, the Gerald Asamoah Foundation embarks on this journey as an act of giving back to the country of his birth, Ghana. In the 2024 edition of the program, 40 heart specialists were flown in for pediatric surgeries, building on the success of the first edition in November 2023 where twenty children received sponsored surgeries.

In a heartwarming social media clip, the medical team arrived in Accra at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA on Monday,) November 4, 2024 with big smiles on their faces.

The surgeries will be conducted at the University of Ghana Medical Center (UGMC) in partnership with the UGMC’s Cardiothoracic Department. The main goal of the Gerald Asamoah Heart Foundation is to provide support to children in Ghana who are suffering from heart disease.

Gerald leverages his fame and resources to carry out philanthropic endeavors, including providing much-needed healthcare services to underprivileged communities.
