The ongoing construction of 64 kilometer road including major bridges and culverts in the Builsa North District valued at eleven-point nine million Ghana cedis is progressing steadily.

Several roads, bridges and culverts in the Builsa North District were washed away by torrential rains in August and September 2018.

About six people died in an attempt to cross the broken bridges and culverts to the Builsa North District capital, Sandema.

The project is been executed by Hamdan Company Limited in collaboration with a Chinese construction firm call Sun-In company limited.

The construction of the major bridges and the roads linking market centers in the Builsa North District is in fulfilment of a promise made by the Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia when he visited family members of the flood victims who lost their lives in September last year.

The heavy rains recorded last year rendered a lot of people in the area homeless. Farmers in the area had their farms submerged by flood waters.

Almost all the roads linking the Builsa North District capital, Sandema were washed away, making travelling and economic activities difficult.

Residents in the area particularly, Siniesi, Nyanbisa and Bachongsa described the move by government to fix the unmotorable roads in the area as a big relief. In an in interview with GBC NEWS, a resident of Jansah, Evans Kwesi Amosah, described the move by government as timely.

The CEO of Hamdan Company Limited, Moses Alale, who doubles as a country Representative of Sun-In Company Limited, gave a brief background of the project.

The project which a Ghanaian construction firm would have used 15 months to complete the project is expected to be completed within three months with the Chinese Technology in roads, bridges and culverts construction.
