Ghana Integrity Initiative launches its 20th anniversary in Accra

The Ghana Integrity Initiative has launched its 20th anniversary in Accra. As part of the programme some key stakeholders will be honoured for contributing to the fight against corruption.

Speaking at the launch, Chairperson of Star Ghana Foundation, Dr Esther Ofei Aboagye commended GII for advocating strategies to help in the campaign against corruption.

Dr Aboagye called on stakeholders to support GII to rid the country of corruption.

The Ghana Integrity Initiative(GII) is the local chapter of Transparency international the global civil society organization,Leading the fight against corruption.it was launched in December 1999 as a non partisan non profit civil empowerment organization.

Its vision is to make Ghana a corruption free society where all people and institutions act accountably with integrity.

Dr Esther Ofei Aboagye, said the GII has over the years helped in policy formulation to fight corruption.

A Political Statistician at the  University of Ghana and Fellow of the Institute for Democratic Governance, IDEG, Prof Joseph Atsu Aryee spoke of a legal framework to check corruption in the county.

The Netherlands Ambassador to Ghana, H.E Ronald Strikker asked the media to focus more on investigative journalism as part of the anti corruption crusade.
