Ghana joins world to mark Oral Health Day

A Dentist at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital, Dr. Akua Kissi says it has become necessary for Ghanaians to inculcate the habit of visiting the dentist at least twice a year to check the state of their oral health.

She said the only time most Ghanaians visit the dental clinic is when they have a problem which has worsened. Dr. Kissi said this in an interview with GBC’s Radio Ghana in Sekondi as the world marks World Oral Health Day Wednesday.

World Oral Health Day is celebrated on March 20 every year with the aim of creating awareness on the benefits of healthy mouth and promoting the importance of oral hygiene. Oral hygiene is the practice of keeping one’s mouth clean and free of diseases.

According to a Dentist at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital, Dr. Akua Kissi every individual must pay attention to their oral health to ensure a healthier mouth, healthier set of teeth and fresh breath.
