Director of Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, CSIR’s- Plant Genetic Resources Research Institute, Dr. Lawrence Aboagye says modern agricultural practices, natural hazards and human activities are causing the extinction of some plants even though the Institution is preserving indigenous species for food security.

As the world observes International Biodiversity Day May 22, Dr. Aboagye noted that in as much as technology in agriculture has improved food production, indigenous plant species need to be preserved because they are needed for human health.
