More patients across Ghana have been left stranded and frustrated as the strike by Nurses, Midwives and other Health Service Providers, enters day three.
The strike went on yesterday, despite an Interlocutory Injunction secured by the National Labour Commission (NLC) to prevent the action.
The striking health workers are demanding better working conditions such as transport and other allowances.
Some departments in hospitals have been closed down while in some cases, doctors who are already over stretched have to take up extra duties.
Meanwhile, striking nurses, midwives and allied health associations are to meet the National Labour Commission (NLC) and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission today (September 23, 2020) to negotiate their conditions of service.
The meeting, initiated by government follows the ongoing strike by the health workers to demand for better conditions of service.
The industrial action enters day three today.
Meanwhile, an Accra High Court has for the second time, ordered the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives’ Association (GRNMA) through a substituted service to halt its strike.
This comes on the back of an initial interlocutory injunction secured by the NLC on Friday to compel the Nurses and Midwives to call off their action pending further negotiations.
