Ghana–Pakistan relations have received a significant boost following high-level political consultations between the two countries in Accra, marking a renewed commitment to deepen bilateral cooperation.

The inaugural Political Consultations, held on Monday, brought together senior officials from Ghana and Pakistan to explore avenues for enhanced collaboration in diplomacy, trade and investment, defence, health, education, agriculture, peace and security, as well as people-to-people exchanges.

As part of the engagements, Pakistan’s Additional Foreign Secretary and head of delegation, Ambassador Hamid Asghar Khan, paid a courtesy call on Ghana’s Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Honourable James Gyakye Quayson, a Member of Parliament, to brief him on the outcomes of the discussions.

The Deputy Minister welcomed the delegation and expressed optimism that sustained dialogue would translate the outcomes of the consultations into tangible benefits for the peoples of both countries. Discussions also revealed that talks were at an advanced stage toward finalising a visa waiver arrangement for holders of Diplomatic and Official Passports.

Ambassador Khan reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to implementing the outcomes of the consultations and announced that a Pakistani trade delegation would visit Ghana in the near future to strengthen private sector relations and promote economic growth.

Both sides expressed confidence that the strengthened cooperation would usher in a new phase of Ghana–Pakistan relations.
