Ghana records 2 new Covid-19 variants

The Deputy General Secretary of the Ghana Medical Association, Dr. Titus Beyuo says the detection of two new variants of the Covid-19 virus in the country should be a signal to all that adherence to the safety protocols alongside the vaccination is the best way to deal with the pandemic.

Dr. Beyuo explained that the upward trajectory of cornavirus related deaths is expected because the infection rate was high before the vaccination started.

He told GBC’s Nathaniel Nartey that the vaccines administered in the country are potent to deal with the two new variants adding that the death rate is expected to go down soon.

Dr. Beyuo said targets for the first phase of the vaccination were exceeded, adding that, the country will take delivery of two million doses soon.
