Ghana records 229 new coronavirus infections, 4 new deaths

Ghana has recorded an increase of 229 new coronavirus infections, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 12,193.

The Director General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, said this at a media briefing in Accra on Tuesday, June 16.

“As at yesterday, the report we have is the total number of positives are 12,193 cases out of 255,971 persons tested at a positivity rate of 4.76 per cent.”

“These are the numbers that are from the very first day that we had the first day that we had the case up till today and we continue to add any numbers that are tested.”

“We have a system of testing and collating the numbers from the labs and also validated by the districts.”

According to the Service, the country has however recorded an increase of four new deaths taking total deaths to 58.

“The last four deaths are all in Greater Accra—three males and a female.”

 Ghana’s active cases are about 7,813.

Dr. Kuma-Aboagye disclosed that there are 13 severe cases with four who are critically ill and on ventilators.
