Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa says Ghana’s intensified economic diplomacy drive is beginning to yield significant results, particularly in the area of industrial partnerships.

Following a high-level visit to China, Mr Ablakwa announced that Chinese Electric Vehicle (EV) giant, GAC Group, has expressed strong interest in establishing an EV manufacturing plant in Ghana.

“GAC a leading electric vehicle manufacturer has agreed to give favorable consideration to Ghana for the establishment of an EV manufacturing plant,” Ablakwa revealed.

The Foreign Affairs Minister said, China which hosts seven of the world’s top ten EV brands, is widely acknowledged to be at least a decade ahead of global competitors in EV technology.

“Ghana is poised to forge strategic partnerships that leverage our lithium discovery and economic recovery efforts for transformation and massive job creation,” the minister added.

He expressed gratitude to the board and management of GAC for their warm hospitality during a visit to the company’s Panyu Headquarters, describing the engagement as a major step forward in Ghana’s industrialization drive.

Mr Ablakwa affirmed that Ghana’s renewed focus on economic diplomacy aims to ensure that the country’s international engagements directly benefit its people through investment, innovation, and employment opportunities.
