Ghana is vying for a position at the UN Security Council Non-Permanent Membership position to serve a fourth term.

Contesting the position with Gabon and the Democratic Republic of Congo, President Akufo-Addo has made a case for Ghana’s candidature with the focus on “Enhancing Global Peace and Security for sustainable and Inclusive Development”.

Ghana currently ranked tenth in peacekeeping, as well as endorsements from ECOWAS and AU, makes her standout among her competitors for the Non-Permanent seat on the UN Security Council.

President Akufo-Addo makes the comments during the virtual launch of Ghana’s candidature.

The President said Ghana’s quest for a non-permanent seat on the Security Council shows the country’s preparedness in contributing to sustainable peace globally.

Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Shirley Ayorkor Botchway expressed appreciation to ECOWAS and the AU for the support.
