She commended Ghana Gas and Quantum for investing in education, saying education as equalizer of opportunities will give the people in the communities the platform to aspire to fulfill their dreams.

For his part, the District Chief Executive for Ellembelle, Kwesi Bonzo has bemoaned the seeming refusal of some operators and service providers in the Oil and Gas sector to work towards meeting the expectations of people in the project affected communities.

He said, as the people of Ellembelle are heavily impacted by the industry as host, the onus lies on operators to put in place commensurate corporate social responsibility projects to mitigate the impact.

He said, “calls for assistance to such companies fall on deaf ears” “we write letters upon letters to such companies for development support are hardly acknowledged, let alone offer the assistance we seek”, he said.

Mr. Bonzo however, singled out the Ghana Gas Company and Quantum Terminals PLC for their exemplary contribution to the development of Ellembelle.

The Ellembelle DCE highly commended Ghana Gas for partnering the Ghana National Petroleum Company, GNPC for financing the Esiama-Nkroful road among other projects.

He said expectations of the people are high and therefore entreated companies operating in the district to emulate the examples set by Ghana Gas and Quantum.

This will give them the social license to undertake their activities in a peaceful atmosphere. Touching on the provision of education infrastructure, Mr. Bonzo said the district is happy in that, it will help boost education delivery.

The Ellembelle District Director of Education, Peter Ackah Blay called on chiefs to do proper documentation on lands released for projects in order to avoid encroachment and its attendant litigations.
