Ghana’s coronavirus case count rises by 121 to hit 1,671

The Ghana Health Service (GHS), has confirmed 121 more cases of coronavirus in Ghana, bringing the total number to 1,671 as at Tuesday, April 28.

According to the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr Patrick Aboagye, “563 out of the 1,671 cases have come from general surveillance, which is those who fell ill and approached hospitals and are tested. 105 still remain part of the earlier quarantine, 10 from the quarantine in Tamale and those we have from the enhanced tracing.”

“About a 1,461 are well or no symptoms and are responding very well to treatment. We have about 6 who are moderately to critically ill and 2 at UGMC, 3 in Ga East and 1 in Korle Bu. No critical case in other parts of the country,” he said during a media briefing in Accra.

Dr Patrick Aboagye indicated that Ghana has recorded a 188 recoveries and we are hoping that there are more waiting for discharge awaiting their second test to be discharged.

He added that aside four regions — Savanna, Bono East, Bono and Ahafo— all other regions have recorded COVID-19 cases.
