The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has directed its controls across the country’s borders to be on high alert.

This comes after more than 1,800 prisoners escaped from the Owerri Custodial Centre in Imo State in Nigeria.

A statement signed by the Comptroller-General, Laud Afrifa asked the control officers to be vigilant and prevent entry of the criminal escapees into the country.
