President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, has praised journalists across the country for their dedication, resilience, and unwavering commitment to truth, describing their work as central to Ghana’s democratic journey.

Speaking at the 3rd GJA Dinner Night held at the Ghana International Press Centre, Mr. Dwumfour said the event was more than a social gathering, but a moment of reflection, appreciation, and renewal for a profession that often works under pressure, sacrifice, and risk.

“Journalism is demanding. It is relentless. It knows no weekends, no holidays, and no fixed working hours,” he said, noting that journalists continue to inform, educate, and hold power accountable despite difficult conditions and personal cost.

He commended reporters, editors, camera operators, producers, photojournalists, and digital content creators for keeping the public informed throughout the year, stressing that the dinner night was the association’s way of saying thank you to media practitioners nationwide.

“I commend your courage in exposing wrongdoing, your resilience in the face of intimidation, and your professionalism in the pursuit of national interest,” Mr. Dwumfour said.

He added that from election coverage and parliamentary reporting to investigative journalism and community storytelling, journalists have remained steadfast in their duty to the Ghanaian people.

As the year draws to a close, he urged journalists to remain committed to ethical practice and public interest reporting, assuring the public that under the current leadership, the GJA will continue to expand the frontiers of freedom, deepen democratic practice, and promote national cohesion.

He concluded by extending festive greetings to journalists and Ghanaians, encouraging media practitioners to celebrate their achievements and prepare for an even more impactful year ahead.
