Speaking in Accra at the launch of a health screening exercise for media practitioners, he noted that the media plays a critical role in the development of the country, hence the need for practitioners to be healthy to carry out their mandate.

Due to the immense stress associated with the profession, some of the Ghana’s journalists have lost their lives through various stress related diseases such as hypertension, diabetes and cardiac arrest. BBC’s Komla Dumor and Kwadwo Asare Baffuor Acheampong of the Multimedia Group readily comes to mind.

It is on the back of this unfortunate trend that Impact 360 International, a non governmental organization in collaboration with GJA, Ghana independent Broadcasters Association GIBA, the Ghana Health Service and Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research has launched a health screening exercise dubbed ” The Health Train for media personnel nationwide”.

The exercise which is expected to take off at the end of March will cover all media practitioners across the country.

The CEO of Impact 360 International, Cliford Ladzekpo said the country cannot be losing talented and energetic work force to diseases that can be treated .
