GJA President Affail Monney advocates peaceful conduct of Association’s Elections

''World Press Freedom Day is an opportunity for rededication to duty'' -Affail Monney

The President of the Ghana Journalists Association Roland Affail Monney has called for peaceful processes towards the GJA elections which come off this year.

In his new year message, Mr. Monney reminded those contesting that it is God who will raise the next President and other leaders of the GJA.

He condemned what he describes as the slash and burn campaign style which runs counter to the godly approach, saying it will be destined for disappointment.

He recounted that before the old executives took office, they lived like brothers and sisters, adding that while in office, executives forged ahead with singularity of purpose, did their best and managed their differences, all by divine enablement.

However, along the line the dynamics changed, loyalty shifted, hatred emerged, thus culminating in the present bouts of uncertainty about the way forward.

He said ”never should members allow themselves to be imprisoned by the immediate ugly past”, adding that ”the New Year presents a new opportunity, first of all, to forgive, love, respect, accommodate, and cooperate with each other”.

This, he noted, will allow the lingering issues to be resolved and a time table produced for the elections to be held at the earliest time possible.

He said ”a further delay will hurt the GJA brand and inflate the cost of the campaign”.
