Firefighters from the Ho Municipal Fire Station of the Ghana National Fire Service, led by ASTNO Bernard Kwamitse, responded swiftly to an industrial fire at the Agatex Paint Factory, Tsawenu near Ho, following a distress call at 11:30 a.m. and arrived at 11:42 a.m. to find a rapidly spreading fire involving stored paint raw materials.

With timely reinforcement from the Regional Headquarters and coordinated operations, the fire was brought under control at 1:00 p.m. and fully extinguished at 4:00 p.m., with no casualties recorded. The fire affected portions of the factory’s roof and walls.

Firefighters successfully confined the blaze, preventing its spread to other sections of the factory and saving critical production machinery.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the fire originated from the chemical storage area and spread to other parts of the facility, which has been non-operational for nearly four (4) years. The exact cause remains under investigation.

Two (2) vehicles, a pickup and a saloon car, parked within the premises were completely destroyed.

The Volta Regional Commander, ACFO II Joseph Tetteh Freeman, and the Municipal Commander, DO II Seth Tay, were present to provide technical direction and operational support.

The Command advises owners of unused buildings to maintain proper housekeeping, especially where chemicals are stored, and to disconnect electricity when not in use to reduce fire risks from faulty wiring, appliances, power surges, or rodent damage.
