The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) generated US$1.871 billion in foreign exchange in September 2026, surpassing its monthly target of US$1.4 billion by US$471 million.
Of the total amount generated, US$701.3 million was sold to authorised commercial banks, while US$1.170 billion was provided to the Bank of Ghana for reserve accumulation.
The September performance represents an increase from August, when GoldBod generated US$1.315 billion in foreign exchange. During that month, US$668.21 million was sold directly to commercial banks through spot sales and funded forward arrangements, while US$646.59 million was provided to the Bank of Ghana for reserve accumulation under the Ghana Gold for Reserves Accumulation Programme (GANRAP).
For October, GoldBod has set a foreign exchange target of US$1.5 billion under its new Spot FX Sales/Intermediation Framework.
The framework is intended to strengthen transparency, promote fairness and ensure greater regulatory compliance in the foreign exchange market.
Effective October 2026, GoldBod will assume full responsibility for foreign exchange intermediation, marking a new phase in the institution’s role in managing the country’s gold-derived foreign exchange flows.
