Goldfields Ghana Limited pays $16 million dividend to government

Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Kwaku Asumah-Cheremeh has warned multi-national mining companies which have failed to pay dividends to the government to do so before the laws of the land are applied to them.

He said it is regrettable that these companies always declare losses, but are still in business.

Mr. Asumah-Cheremeh said it is not the intention of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government to collapse businesses, but create a friendly working environment for all. Those who try to outsmart the system, will however not be spared.

He therefore charged all multi-national mining companies which have not paid their dividends for the past ten years to do so immediately.

Mr. Asumah-Cheremeh said this when he received a cheque of 16 million dollars from Goldfields Ghana Limited as dividend to government.
