Government has condemned in no uncertain terms Tuesday’s riots at Ejura Sekyedumase, which claimed two lives and injured four others.

It described the incident as unfortunate and expressed its condolences to families of the victims.

Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, told Journalists in Accra that the Security agencies have been tasked to be swift with investigations and serve justice to families of the victims.

“We commiserate with the victims, the families, the loved ones, and the people of Ejura. Our security agencies should be quick and clinical in getting to the bottom of this and other unresolved crimes,” he said on Wednesday, June 30.

Oppong Nkrumah also called for probe into the crowd rioting and crowd controlling incident.

“A credible investigation needs to be conducted into the crowd rioting and crowd controlling incident on the 29th of June. This is necessary to bring clarity to the sequence of events and to ensure that if any persons acted inappropriately, those persons are punished.”
