Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced an open competition to select a standard architectural design for all new Ghanaian embassies and high commissions, to be branded as Ghana House.

Speaking at the Government Accountability Series at the Jubilee House on Monday, 15 September 2025, the Minister said the contest seeks “the most iconic, green and creative design” that reflects Ghana’s heritage and culture.

The competition, which runs from 15 September to 14 November 2025, is open to all Ghanaian architects, including young graduates and established professionals.

Mr Ablakwa noted that the initiative marks a departure from past practices in which major state projects were single-sourced to one architect. He cited projects such as the National Cathedral, Marine Drive, Agenda 111, Bank of Ghana Head Office, and the new Parliamentary Chamber as examples.

“That era has ended,” he said. “There is a new reset, and this is another confirmation that the reset is truly happening.”
