Government has described as successful Phase Two of Operation Halt on River Pra and other river bodies in the Eastern and Western Regions.
During the operation, more than five hundred items which include 28 excavators, 267 chamfines, 18 water pump machines among others were destroyed.
21 brand new pumping machines were seized.
Minister of Defence, Dominic Nitiwul told journalists in Accra on Tuesday, May 11, that no arrests were made during this second phase, adding that, further directives will be given as to what should be done to the seized items.
The 400 Personnel for this second phase were from the Navy, Military and Air force.
Meanwhile, Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor, has cautioned that apart from those involved in Operation Halt, no taskforce has been sanctioned to arrest any illegal miner.
