Government to continue Karpowership agreement for strategic reasons

Government is reviewing the status of some emergency power plants agreement signed by the previous government during the peak of the power crisis in 2013.

 

Energy Minister, John Peter Amewu who announced this said the review is to assess the implications of their continuous operations.

 

Mr Amewu said government has taken a decision to continue the operation of the Karpower plant for strategic reasons.

 

However, he said it will soon be relocated to Takoradi to be converted to a gas plant to be able to receive gas from Ghana Gas.

 

He said government will soon make public its review plans on some of the emergency power plants.
