Government to procure COVID-19 Vaccine

President Akufo-Addo has indicated government’s efforts to procure the newly developed COVID-19 vaccines.

In this wise, a team of experts from relevant State Agencies has been assembled to ensure the procurement and effective administration of the vaccine when it arrives in the country. In his latest update on the Coronavirus, President Akufo-Addo said Ghana will not be left out in accessing the vaccine.

The Food and Drugs Administration of the United States of America, and the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency of the United Kingdom, have given emergency approvals for the vaccines. With the anxieties relating to the safety and efficacy of newly-developed vaccines, the President said Government will ensure that the Covid-19 vaccines to be deployed are effective and safe.

President Akufo-Addo urged Ghanaians to continue to adhere to COVID-19 safety protocols ahead of the Christmas holidays.

He acknowledged that family reunions, parties and many social and religious gatherings are bound to take place but however cautioned that such events must be held in open spaces rather than in closed, air-conditioned spaces. President Akufo-Addo announced that Beaches, Pubs, Cinemas and nightclubs will remain closed until further notice.
