The Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah says Government expects to fully implement the revised 2019 Budget that was recently approved by Parliament.

Key among the areas for the additional spending are security, infrastructure, agriculture and energy.

Mr. Oppong Nkrumah who was addressing the media in Kumasi, explained that these are critical areas to galvanize the country’s socio-economic growth.

Mr. Oppong Nkrumah said security has been a matter of serious concern to President Akufo-Addo’s administration from the beginning of this year, not because of what he described as the heightened media reportage of some of the security incidences in the country, but also because of the security climate within the West Africa sub-region.

He said the Akufo-Addo administration has shown good faith by commencing an exercise of retooling the security agencies, particularly the police and the military.

It is therefore the expectation that part of the extra six billion Ghana Cedis requested by the Minister of Finance in the half year review of the 2019 Budget will be invested in the further improvement of the country’s security apparatus.

Under infrastructure, Mr. Oppong Nkrumah said part of the resources will go particularly into the road sector, while a chunk will go into agriculture to support farmers in the planting for food and jobs, planting for export and rural development and rearing for food and jobs initiatives of Government.

He also spoke on the ongoing enquiry into Power Distribution Services, (PDS), matters.
