Government will soon roll out a series of interventions to address the increasing sanitation challenges in Ghana.
The Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Dapaah  who announced this after a tour of some landfill sites in Accra, could not state when, but said the solutions will cover short to long term interventions.
The areas visited were Glefe, Agbogloshie just behind the ICGC Christ Temple at Abossey Okai, a dumpsite behind the Mallam market, the transfer site close to the Korle Bu teaching Hospital and the beach front behind the Osu castle.
At the landfill site behind the Mallam market,a large portion of the land had been reclaimed ,however the other landfill sites were in a deplorable state as some illegal occupants had built structures on them.

The Sanitation and Water Resources Minister Cecilia Dapaah interacted with the illegal occupants and said government will soon come out with short to long term solutions to deal with the situation.

Some residents around the transfer station close to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital had consistently complained about siting of the station. However Madam Dapaah said  it does not pose a health risk.

Meanwhile the 660 million dollar conti project,  for  the construction of major drainage to deal with perennial flooding in Accra seems to have stalled. According the Chief Executive of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly Mohammed Adjei Sowah  the project was fraught with challenges.
