GRA supports Wa Municipal Assembly

The Ghana Revenue Authority( GRA) has donated water, sanitation and hygiene related materials to the Wa Municipal Assembly. This was after staff have organized a cleanup in the municipality.

The Upper West Regional Office Manager at the Domestic Tax Revenue Division, Samuel Kofi Adangbe said GRA undertook the exercise to drive home the idea that good sanitation directly affects health and well-being.

He said residents can only pay taxes to government when they are healthy.

The exercise begun with a health walk through the principal streets of Wa. Staff then headed to the major lorry station known as ‘Kejetia’ in the Central Business District for the clean-up.

After that cleanup, the team made up of staff from the Domestic Tax Review Division, the Customs Division of GRA and administrative staff then marched through the streets to the Wa Municipal Assembly to donate WASH related items worth thousands of Ghana-cedis.

Speaking to the media, the Upper West Regional Office Manager at the Domestic Tax Revenue Division, Samuel Kofi Adangbe said a huge chunk of taxes collected in the region comes from Wa.

Therefore, the need to support residents and business owners through the Assembly.

The Wa Municipal Coordinating Director, Haruna AmaduZure commended GRA for the exercise, and the items donated. He said the items will be helpful to the Assembly in addressing sanitation in the area.

Ghana Revenue Authority also donated similar items to GBC’s Upper West Regional Station, Radio Upper West.
