A baker from Kasoa in the Central Region, Mrs Grace Antwi, has been honoured as the Mirror Model Mother as part of this year’s Mother’s Day celebrations, organised by The Mirror in collaboration with Oak Plaza Hotel.
The event, held at the Oak Plaza Hotel in Accra, celebrated Mrs Antwi’s love, care, and compassion, which have made a positive impact on her community.
Speaking at the ceremony, Editor of The Mirror, Ms Doreen Hammond, urged mothers to continue their vital contributions to society, stressing that such selfless acts attract divine favour.
“Despite facing challenges, she’s made a positive impact in her community. As a professional baker, she’s been paying school fees for some children and training others. When her husband, a police officer lost his job, she stepped in to support her family.” Her generosity and willingness to share what she has with her community are remarkable qualities that make her a role model,” she added.
The event was a heartwarming celebration, recognising the tireless efforts and devotion of mothers and bringing joy and love to all in attendance.

The Mirror, a brand under the Graphic Communications Group Limited, has been organising the Mother’s Day event for over a decade, with a special focus on honouring women and mother figures who play vital roles in shaping society.
A highlight of the event was the unveiling of the Mirror Model Mother, an annual title awarded to an exceptional woman selected from over a thousand nominees. This year’s honour went to Mrs Grace Antwi Hayford.
During the celebration, Mrs Hayford shared her inspiring journey of resilience and motherhood, highlighting the importance of investing in children’s education and offering heartfelt advice to young mothers.

“I was truly surprised because thousands of people had been nominated. I was actually present when the team from The Mirror called to inform me that I had won the Mirror Model Mother Award. I was in shock, I couldn’t sleep that night,” Mrs. Hayford said.
Mrs Hayford received wax prints and hampers from sponsors of the event and expressed deep appreciation to The Mirror for the recognition.
