Green Ghana trees under threat as herds of cattle graze them

Trees planted under the Green Ghana project to conserve the country’s forests are under threat in parts of the Bono East Region as large herds of cattle invade the forests and graze on the young trees.

According to the Nkoranza District Forestry Commission, the activities of Fulani herdsmen in the area are thwarting the government’s tree planting initiative.

Assistant District Manager of the Forestry Commission, Madam Hanna Marri, made the observation at the inauguration of a management board for EcoCare Ghana and its partners, Landscapes and Environmental Agility Across Nation (LEAN) in Nkoranza.
