The Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) is set to replace the damaged pylon on Sunday, August 23, following the completion of the first phase of repair works.
The pylon in question is located on the assayment section of the 161 kV Tema-Achimota transmission line and was damaged following a welding explosion in July this year.
A statement issued by GRIDCo’s Communications Department said its engineers said its engineers successfully completed the initial repair works last Sunday, August 16, resulting in the restoration of power to consumers.
The Company, in collaboration with the electricity company of Ghana ECG, said it will provide prior information to customers and communities that may be affected by the planned replacement, including any associated power supply interruptions.
Gridco said the exercise is aimed at restoring the full integrity reliability and resilience of the transmission line and is therefore appealing to the public for patience and cooperation as it works to complete the tower replacement.
