The Ghana Standards Authority has reminded the public that it is an offence to use and also adjust any weighing or measuring instrument for trade without the prior approval of the Authority.

To this end, the Authority is to embark on a sensitisation drive to educate the public on the weights and measurements law.

The law seeks to ensure fairness to both sellers and buyers.

In an interview with GBC’s Radio Ghana, the Director, Corporate Communications of the Authority, Dr. Kofi Amponsah-Bediako said the use of Olonka the container for the sale of gari and other food items is wrong, instead, it should be sold based on its weight.
