High Court orders ex-NCA Boss to open defense

The Commercial Division of the Accra High Court has ordered the former Chief Executive Officer of the National Communication Authority (NCA) William Tetteh Tevie to open his defense coming Thursday.

This was after the court presided over by Justice Eric Kyei Baffour had dismissed another application for stay of proceedings by the former Board Chairman of the NCA, Eugene Baffle Bonnie.

The court held that, per the statutes, persons whose applications are dismissed will need 7 days to come back hence the invitation on the former CEO, who is the second accused person to open his defense.

His lawyer, Edudzie Tamakloe prayed for a short adjournment to be able to put his house in order and come back on Thursday.

Justice Kyei Baffour heeded to his plea and subsequently adjourned the case to July 4 for the second accused person to open his defense. The judge also cautioned the other accused persons to get prepared to open their defense on the same day to prevent another needless adjournment.

The Former Board Chair of the NCA, Eugene Baffoe Bonnie, Former Director General, William Tetteh Tevie and three others are before the court for wilfully causing financial loss to the state to a tune of four million dollars.
